Been busy

Sorry for my absence… been busy.

Board meetings are held monthly during the summer months.  The next meeting is July 17, aired on Cox Ch. 18 on Wednesday, July 18 @ 8:00pm.  We will be hearing a presentation from MGT, the company bidding on the management study.

  1. I simply do not understand why school systems have to reinvent the wheel every time they want to spend taxpayers money? Why do we hire “interior designers”? Can’t building plans be reused?

Although I am vigorously opposed to expanding Chariho and further solidifying RYSE’s permanent status, even if I were supportive, isn’t it possible to construct a building which doesn’t require major architectural and design expenses?

I know that residential structures very often are built with common blueprints…so I have to think that schools can also be build without the need for unique building plans. Or maybe I’m naive and there’s something about schools that require a redesigned wheel each time a new one is built?

The cynical me suspects that it is an ego thing, with most school administrations and building committee members looking to leave behind a legacy on someone else’s dime.

    From the Chariho Times:

“There’s not that much to say until the architect comes back,” said subcommittee member George Abbott.
Smith was suppose to bring new ideas about interior design for the subcommittee to evaluate and consider but since she didn’t show the committee adjoined early.

Despite the no-show, Chariho School District Superintendent Barry Ricci, and other district officials have said that nothing is set in stone as far as what design plans may look like.”
