Shocking info at last night’s meeting

Filed under: Chariho — Editor @ 12:14 pm

Perhaps this will not shock others, but I was floored by this info.  Last night it was revealed that we have had 108 arrests at Chariho over the last 2 years (67 & 41).  They did not have any other data.

Personally, I don’t think the state has a right to force me to put my kids in that enviornment.  Perhaps this can be a spark for school choice.

I’ll post more info when I get it.

  1. My hope is this, that they do have the data, it was just unavailable at the time, and that they will have it available at the next school committee meeting. This is information that needs to be brought out in the open.

I would like to know if the arrests were high school, RYSE, or middle school students, and where the arrests were made, for example were they on school grounds (and where on school grounds), or on the bus. Also, what were the arrests for, ie…drugs, weapons, assault, etc.

Bill, please, could you get this data and let us know?

On a different matter, some time ago I asked what kind of grants we received in the last few years and what they were for. The administration had answered many of my questions but not this one. Have they determined that yet?

And where do we stand on the math curriculum?

I apologize; I have been unable to watch the meetings, so I am unaware of any changes.

  2. 41 arrests in an 180 day school year is one arrest every 4.3 days.

67 arrests in an 180 day school year is one arrest every 2.7 days.
