  3. Hi!
I just checked also. It didn’t work for me. It may be down a maintenance? I would check later or tomorrow perhaps? I do not operate any blog so let me put that speculation to rest!
    Regards,
    Scott

  4. Anchor Rising is another good read. Education issues are not only in the Chariho Dirstrict they are state wide. RISC has reported on ‘executive session’ dealings in the Portsmouth S.C. reporting violations and there have been nepotism issues in East Providence on other sites. When 75% of your money goes to failing schools you had better pay attention. You won’t be able to get roads plowed but we can make sure that public education/schools are headed for the toilet unless it can continue to be spun the other way and folks want to swallow it.

  5. I swear Richmond is populated by morons.

Hopkinton has asked Chariho to allow the towns to delay sending money to the school during September. Chariho has said it doesn’t require the money in early September and doesn’t mind giving up the interest it earns on the money sitting in an account. Hopkinton said that tax revenues and school aid does not arrive after the Chariho payment is due. I’m guessing this move would save Hopkinton the expense of borrowing the money until the revenues come in? Of course Hopkinton pays much more in interest than Chariho receives on the idle money so it makes total financial sense to do this. The school committee said it won’t vote on the measure until it hears from Charlestown and Richmond.

Get a load of this – Richmond voted to send Hopkinton a letter saying that if they are to agree to delaying payment then Hopkinton should agree to another bond vote. Yep you read that right. They are trying to bribe Hopkinton!

It gets stranger. If you look at the budgets for Richmond and Hopkinton you will see that Richmond reports about $200,000 less in state school aid revenue than Hopkinton. Both towns receive the same amount which I believe is over $6 million but Richmond loses more along the way and lists aid at much less in its budget. Where do you think Richmond loses hundreds of thousands of dollars? My guess is that they lose it when they pay Chariho before they have the money themselves and they end up borrowing just like Hopkinton. Richmond pays interest just to have money sit in a Chariho account. How stupid is that?

If I’m right the fools in Richmond are willing to continue paying high interest on borrowed money just to spite Hopkinton. This is what they call cutting off your nose to spite your face. I’d ask why the Richmond voters put up with the idiots running the town but it is obvious that many Richmond voters don’t have a clue. This also explains why they never saw spending at Chariho they didn’t like! They even want Chariho to have Richmond money when they don’t need it. The more I learn about Richmond the funnier it gets.

  7. It appears that a no vote on the re occuring/re do bond regarding school improvements, will god willing (not to drag him/her into this) finally get the tri towns into a dissolution of the ‘district’. This way a settlement can be applied to who owns what and Towns can not be ganged up on regarding votes or whose paying what.

Research shows cases for all the Towns going on their own and having FULL control. Decide who wants Barry. I know of one town that doesn’t or maybe there is more than one.

  8. Give Barry to Richmond. They can have a parade for him and build a pyramid in his honor! They can then take whatever he hasn’t spent of the town’s treasure and bury it in the pyramid.

  9. It didn’t take you long, Real Question where that prayer should be answered (by the other towns).

The Current School Committee Chair can continue to genuflect (on their knees) to the disappointment of Richmond taxpayers.

Maybe the other two towns (Hopkinton and Charlestown) prayers will be answered.

Your on the pulse who ever you are. We miss Curious Resident but your bringing the ‘truth as well.’ Thanks for participating.

  10. Michael, I thought Hopkinton doesn’t want to dissolve the school district? That’s what I’ve heard over and over again from your town council. If that’s what the residents of Hopkinton really want then approach your town council and leave the darn school district, maybe then we can get something done.

  11. Everyone I’ve spoken to in Hopkinton wants to remain as a district. We’d like to see us act as a district with everyone being taxed the same for the same education. If not for Hopkinton Richmond would probably have bankrupted itself years ago. Teachers would all be living in million dollar mansions. They’d have plenty of servants to choose from as the kids they didn’t teach grew up to be well qualified to be servants.

  12. This Richmond “moron” still wants to know why Hopkinton needs 50% higher municipal budget for the same number of citizens as Richmond. Also, the draft Hopkinton budget shows increased municipal spending of just about 5%; the school budget is up less than 3%.

Maybe you folks are hassling the wrong bunch?

  13. Hopkinton is afraid of the police department. The PD are largely responsible for Hopkinton’s huge increases in recent years. You guys in Richmond are morons and we’re cowards. Although your PD has been doing pretty good itself lately. You might get saved from yourselves by the cap.

Chariho is the government cesspool spending the most by far. I’d like them both to spend our money wisely. Other than the politicians I haven’t heard any Hopkinton person claim the town needs to spend more money. There’s plenty of morons in Richmond publically advocating for MORE money to be spent at Chariho. They’re even stupid enough to put letters about it in the paper.

Richmond politicians try to bribe Hopkinton by threatening to continue to borrow money to give Chariho when Chariho doesn’t even need it! Can it get any dumber than that?

Even though I think Hopkinton spends too much they are able to keep all the roads open and plowed while Chariho fails to teach math to 80% of our kids. The town at least provides the basic services expected of them. Chariho does not.

  14. I’m beginning to think that Real Question is also Curious Resident. The same police paranio as what Curious Resident had. Also, the same tendency to throwing about the uncalled for names. I guess he/she/they just show the true intellect with this kind of mentality.

  15. David commented that the town of Hopkinton spends more than Richmond. Most of it is for police but the gap is narrowing. Nothing paranoid about that. Funny things happens to Hopkinton officials who agree with me and many others about too much spent on police. Dems just the facts.

Richmond is willing to pay hundreds of thousands extra in interest just to try and bribe Hopkinton into spending millions more. Richmond voters always approve more spending at Chariho even though the schools fail to do their job educating. This is stupidity on Richmond’s part. If CR agrees with me I’m happy to share billing with a genius. Thanks! 🙂

  16. #10, Chariho (charlestown) Parrot,

When your willing to double your taxes ‘for the children/your multiple children’ and still pay less than the other two towns your easily exposed. If your built your school at your ‘own expense’ then we would see your true colors/committment of ‘for the children’. Stop sponging off the folks of RICHMOND and HOPKINTON. Lets send out petitions for parents to pay tuition payments at $13,350 plus) to support the education of their children, your children Chariho Parrot. Middle Class welfare/subsidy? If you can’t afford children don’t have them.

  17. Insanity, could you please say that in normal english now? One think you need to know, I’m from Richmond! Another ignoramous from Hopkinton that loves to jump to conclusions without knowing anything about someone. Just like I said to RQ, if you’ve jumped to conclusions about me and are wrong, I have to wonder how many other conclusions you’ve jumped to about Chariho that you’re dead wrong about.

  19. We can only reach conclusions based on the info we are given. Since Chariho spends our money and is supposed to be transparent then it has no one to blame but itself for our conclusions. Chariho teachers, administrators and supporters should feel free to come here and to the media with factual info. We welcome it. If they spread lies or hide info and we find out then they get what they deserve. Not sure who said it but “the truth shall set you free”. Chariho should try it.

  20. I think there really isn’t any logical way to defend giving Chariho more money. The one person who makes any regular effort is CharihoParent and he comes across as emotional and lacks a coherent and consistent argument in favor of the status quo at Chariho.

Bob P. tries sometimes but he too gets angry when questioned. What would the politicians say? They are used to controlled meetings where citizens have very limited opportunity to speak. Maybe they are open to phone calls but they couldn’t withstand scrutiny in an open forum.

Bill F. answers questions and honestly deals with the regular folks paying the bills. Maybe because his positions are almost always logical and well thought out he is comfortable sharing his opinions with the community? When you are telling the truth and making sense is there a reason to hide? Probably not.

  21. CP is meaningless. He claims to want change but things change will happen like magic. Doesn’t understand that Hopkinton is the town doing something that actually might lead to change.

Petit is usually a day late and a dollar short. He’ll make a token effort at times but when push comes to shove he goes along wth the crowd. He gets credit for sometimes discussing issues with the public but in the end he is like CP accepting the status quo because standing up and demanding change is too controversial and might hurt Chariho’s feelings. Both CP and Bob Petit could care little that families in the three towns struggle daily while Chariho wastes our money and doesn’t even teach our kids well. They’d rather have peaceful board meetings than protect the families who can’t afford the status quo.

Bill Felkner does us all proud. He is stubborn for sure but always on the side of families. Before Felkner Chariho was wasting money, hiding from the public, and giving away the store to employees but nobody was fighting for us or making efforts to inform the public. Chariho keeps behaving badly but at least we can’t say we didn’t know. Unless you’ve been living under a rock you have to know that Chariho is not doing its job and its charging us a fortune to not do its job. Felkner is the reason we know what is going on.
