Recommendation by Jon Anderson, Chariho solicitor: “Mr. Chair, it is my recommendation to you as the chair of the Chariho Regional School Committee that the position Mr. Felkner received from the School Committee is vacant, that Mr. Felkner should be asked to join the public and enjoy the same rights that the folks in the public have tonight, and that he, that he not be counted whenever any votes are taken or recorded by the clerk.”

Bill Day: I will accept your recommendation because you are our solicitor.”

  2. Got it now. Great job by Ms. Carney. More impressive questions by Mr. Abbott. “Our solicitor has made a ruling”, said Mr. Day. Who elected the attorney from Pawtucket to make any rulings on the School Committee?

Is Mr. Day authorized to disqualify a School Committee member? I don’t know, but the attorney made this claim. Doesn’t seem right to me.

One main point is who has the rights here? Should the School Committee be able to remove an elected represenative on a solicitor’s say so? Or should they be the ones required to get a court ruling?

I’ve seen nothing which authorizes the School Committee or their solicitor to disqualify an elected member. I was angry hearing about this crap, but watching it happening is infuriating. Knowing Mr. Ricci was likely behind it all pulling the strings is even more disgusting. Especially since this stealth action was likely brought about by Mr. Ricci’s attempt to distract from the issue of him lying to a parent.

I don’t know how any of the School Committee members not in the pocket of the administration put up with this garbage. They should all receive sainthood.
