The new media

I spoke with someone who suggested that the Blogosphere could be the new media.  She was surprised by the number of comments posted here just since last night (over 60 I think) and she asked if I knew the hit count.  I haven’t watched it in a long time.  When the NEA filed that bogus complaint and was sent whimpering when Mary Botelle gave them a talkin’ to we registered the highest I had ever seen with about 900 hits.  Today, we closed out the 24 hour period at 8:00 with 1494 hits.  Granted, that probably included 20 each from CR and CP but its still a lot of visitors for a community so small.  Perhaps this is the new media.  Thank you all for making it happen.  Its good to know the community can have a voice that will be listened to.  I think it was George (plz correct me if wrong) that said the school admin had expressed great dispair over this blog.  It has great power – like how LB’s research and the videos on the internet that  got us to change the math curriculum – you mobilized a lot of people and information in short order.  Maybe this Internet thing will catch on!  Thanks,

  1. The internet and blogs like this might turn out the be the new Liberty Tree, albeit with much more transparency.

    There is that word again.

  2. I’m glad to see that so many people are paying attention. The more opinions that are out there the better people can make up there minds, especially when the info is nearly unfiltered and real time.

  4. hmmm must be proud of your leaders denying a whole town due representation on the SC…..nice job! I would post under an alias too if I were to make such statements. You are one of the proud.

  6. Chariho fails our children. Terrible academics…costing us a small fortune to boot. Even CP knows nothing will change until people stand up and notice. It has been the School Committee which has responded to threats to the status quo with “antagonism and volatility”. This incident is just the latest and most extreme example. The news clippings and hit counts are vitally important if we are ever to have the community rise up and demand change. Mr. Felkner should be proud, but if you think news clippings and hit counts are the reasons for his tremendous efforts, then you’re a fool.

  7. On a humorous note, I wonder how many Chariho apologists voted for Mr. Felkner in anticipation of having him gone from the School Committee? I’m sure much of the unethical and illegal behavior on the School Committee arose due to their frustration of having to deal with his threat to their empire for another two years.
