Meeting not on TV

Turns out the school committee meeting from Tuesday was not televised.  “Technical difficulties”

Its amazing how often those happen when there are controversial meeting.

  1. Was there a camera there and they can’t put it on cable, or was there no videoing at all? It might be interesting to find out the nature of the difficulties?

  3. I can’t believe this is news worthy anyway

  4. Hey Bill, the School Committee Refused to air that meeting for whatever reason, because they own the content they have the right not to submit it for airing on cablecast.
I recommend the public bring their own cameras to all meetings in the future.
    Good Luck,

  5. I believe under FOIA that isn’t going to hold water….might take a court ruling, but….

So the SC(a body elected by the public) thinks it can withhold from this same public…..and you people keep electing them to office.

  6. Is this the Dan the Cable the Man?

    Comment by CharihoParent — February 2, 2009 @ 2:31 pm | Reply

  7. Yes this is Dan the Ex Cable Man, I Inquired about the meeting in question, I was told that the disk was corrupt. I won’t name any names because I don’t want these good people to loose their jobs. But I can tell you this I was the one who Pioneered the use of TC Meeting being recorded directly to DVD, because the disk is able to record 4 hours of video plus the failure rate is very very LOW! The recored used is a Panasonic industrial recorder, I have used this recorder countless times and NEVER had a corrupt disk! O failure rate, the camera operator that tapes theres meetings has never had a corrupt disk until this point.

My Expert Opinion in this matter is… The disk is fine, you can figure out what’s corrupt.

Remember the School Committee pays for the camera man, and owns the content of that disk.
The Control is literally in their hands.
So anytime a meeting comes up that you may what a record of please bring your own Camera and a small tripod. If anyone needs info on what hide of camera or dvd recorder just send me a line and I would be glad to help in any way.

  8. Equipement does breakdown over time and there’s always a possibility that a disk does become corrupt. I do believe the same equipment is now used at different locations but different people, so isn’t there a possibility that it has been somewhat abused? It’s been what, 6-7 months since you’ve used the equipement and how long was it around before then? Yes, I’m calling your expertise into question.

I see you already broke your terms for your probation, or what ever it’s called, since you didn’t use your full name in your first post. Not a good way to start things, Dan Davidson.

  9. There are marvelous forensic tools out there today that can do wonders on corrupt data. The tools are so good the only unrecoverable disk are the ones that have been physically destroyed, or have been “erased” by people(military, NSA, etc)with special techniques.

    Comment by RS — February 3, 2009 @ 3:14 pm | Reply

  10. RS, unless the equipment doing he recording was faulty to begin with. I’ve had such equipment failures, there is nothing recoverable on them. The data on the DVD is, as one of our illustrious reps in Providence would say, garrrrrrbage.

    Comment by CharihoParent — February 3, 2009 @ 4:34 pm | Reply

  11. Then this means every disk made after this one on this piece of equipment should also be “corrupt”.

So what say ye Dan, any of the disk after the one in question end up with corrupted data?? Or was it just this particular one ??

Oh yeah it could be intermittent I suppose, but there should be at least one other corrupted disk somewhere.

  12. Chariho Parent…. Please I’m here to help. I supplied Bill with my full email address, So I’m all set.
I saw I subject here that I could shed some light on and I did…

My point was this, the dvd disk is fine, period.

Yes RS, if the last recording was corrupted do to the DVD Recorder Problems then yes it would do it again.

    Comment by Dan Davidson — February 3, 2009 @ 6:08 pm | Reply

  13. RS and Dan,
Never a bad DVD in the bunch? Come on, you know darn well that nothing is perfect. Yes, equipment problems can be intermittent and can be consistent. Did the person not seat the DVD in correctly? Were the cables hooked up properly and tightly? Dan, how do you know for a fact that the DVD is fine? Were you there? Have you inspected the DVD? Until you can say that, it’s pure conjecture on your part that everything was perfect and the DVD is fine.

My Email address is my name has been for 10 years
wordpress for some reason won’t publish it.
If you think that was a violation of my Probation you would be incorrect.

  16. Another hard one for another person…..somethings never change.

Hey Dan, meet the local attack dog.

  17. RS,
What don’t you understand about someone saying something that’s pure conjecture on their part? All Dan Davidson did was post from past experience, he obviously couldn’t substantiate his claim that everything was in perfect working order since he wasn’t there. I live in facts, black and white, not speculation.

    Comment by CharihoParent — February 3, 2009 @ 9:16 pm | Reply

    Everything else is speculation.

If you have more facts, then do tell….all your ranting about plugs, connectors, disk, etc is also speculation.

    Comment by RS — February 3, 2009 @ 9:54 pm | Reply

  19. RS,
But Dan Davidson’s ranting isn’t speculation? I’m asking questions, not trying to spew out statements as facts when I don’t know what happened and why the recording wasn’t aired. There is a difference between what I’ve asked and what Mr. Davidson has attempted to state. He tries to state it as fact when he has nothing to backup his statements, pure conjecture on his part.

  20. Long answer:
See #19: second from last word — “also”

    Main Entry: al·so
    Pronunciation: \ˈȯl(t)-(ˌ)sō, ˈȯ-\
    Function: adverb
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English eallswā, from eall all + swā so — more at so
    Date: before 12th century
    1 : likewise 1
    2 : in addition : besides , too

    Short answer: Yes.

    Comment by RS — February 4, 2009 @ 11:31 am | Reply

  21. If we did not have a SC which disregards the law and was open and forthcoming, then the question of a recording like so many posts on this blog would be a moot point. Trust is earned.

    Comment by RS — February 4, 2009 @ 11:35 am | Reply

  22. Since you want to use then dictionary:

    Main Entry: 1rant
    Pronunciation: \ˈrant\
    Function: verb
    Etymology: obsolete Dutch ranten, randen
    Date: 1601
    intransitive verb
1 : to talk in a noisy, excited, or declamatory manner
    2 : to scold vehemently
    transitive verb
: to utter in a bombastic declamatory fashion

I declared or stated nothing. I’ve asked questions, suggested possibilities as to what my have happened. I know of at least two instances at one of the local town council meetings that the DVD did get corrupted. One of them was the camera operator’s fault (wasn’t Mr. Davidson). I don’t remember what caused the other DVD to fail or become corrupted. So Mr. Davidson’s suggestion that the DVD was fine without him actually being at the school committee meeting or actually having viewed the DVD is the true rant. There’s is a difference between ranting and asking questions and suggesting possibilities.

  23. I’ll leave you and your infatuation with Dan, alone. Obviously you have something personal with him as witnessed by your attack of him.

    Good day!

  24. RS, you’re a joke! Because I disagree with him or with you, etc., it’s suddenly personal. You must be one tough person to deal with. Your attitude is, “It’s my way or the highway”.

  27. RS, you’ve proved my point, your way or the highway.

    Comment by CharihoParent — February 4, 2009 @ 7:29 pm | Reply

  28. RS,
Why is it that when you call down someone it’s OK but don’t anybody else dare do it especially if it goes against your entrenched thinking of total corruption with anything to do with Chariho?

Obviously, you want to believe what Mr. Davidson stated without proof because that goes right along with your total beliefs of wrong doing.

Until someone can say that they have viewed the DVD and saw that it was fine I’ll continue to believe there was a malfunction of some sort.
