  1. Pat Crowley made the best point of the show: Unions can get people out to vote and call freinds to vote.

While Pat was complaining about union benefits than keep getting reduced, I would like to hear him acknowledge that private sector workers have seen their benefits reduced as well.

The reality is that the world has changed and benefit plans for all of us have changed. Pensions are gone, health care cost sharing is necessary, and lots of free sick days are history.

These events are all a reflection of what companies have had to do to remain competitive. Take pensions, they had been treated as a simple equation that was easy to plan for, then medicine got better and everybody started living a lot longer. Medical costs are increasing much faster than expected, the result of great health care that is improving our quality of life.

At some point we all need to face the reality that healthier and longer lives costs money and we do have to pay for it.

  2. Gene, Great comments! You connected the dots. Patrick wants to be a hero to his union and stand on the shoulders of paying the bills. He is as useless as those that pay his salary. I saw the show State of the State by operation clean government where he was sniveling and saw on this site the photo of Patrick was telling us taxpayers we’re number one with his middle finger instead of index finger.
If he can’t please his own union with bob walsh they are down the road.
Lets ramp up charter schools so people and reclaim responsibilty and accountability for ‘all the children all the time’. Something Chariho won’t do.

  3. Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe the unions have some influence with charter schools. If that’s the case, unless charter school are formed in the likeness of the proposed mayoral academy where, I believe there will be no unfluence by unions, the unions will only move from one sphere of inluence to another.
