Chariho contract

This article is from the Sun. Below that you will find a link to videos from the Tiverton School Committee discussing open negotiations. Wouldn’t that be nice…

WOOD RIVER JCT. — Contract talks between the Chariho Regional School Committee and the district’s teachers’ union is expected to resume this week.

Private negotiations for a new, three-year pact are scheduled for Tuesday. The parties last met on Sept. 3.

A three-person negotiation team has represented the school board since talks began in January, but other board members began participating at the last meeting. The issues now at hand “require a full school committee focus,” said School Committee Chairwoman Holly M. Eaves.

“It’s getting down to the more difficult stuff,” she added. The current contract with NEA Chariho — the local arm of the National Education Association that represents 341 full-time certified employees — expired on Aug. 31. The union has opted not to strike or “work-to-rule,” when teachers do not participate in extra-curricular activities like tutoring.

Jeanette Woolley, Chariho’s NEA representative, did not return a phone message by press time.

  4. Hi!
I am proud of George Abbott, and while I might not agree with his every vote, he is one of the better school committee members. I am also proud to consider him a friend and a fellow active Republican.

  6. I am sorry. I seperated the last line from the rest of the list to try to bring attention to the names. The name I was referring to is Ms. Jen Ricci – Fourth grade. I was just curious. I noticed Mr. Pini has a ‘relative’ now working at RYSE and one important issue. There is one BMA that works at RYSE AND is on the History staff at the High School. The last I heard her husband is from Mexico and could not get permission to live in the US. He is living here with her. However, that may have been resolved by now. I know she was particulary upset because he could not get employment. I just wondered how someone as a BMA in RYSE could be on the high school’s department of History’s staff. The salary at RYSE is around $24/hour; and who knows how much Ricci is giving her as a ‘staff’ member and at what level of teaching did he agree to.
OH, it was obviously not George Abbot. I also agree that he is one of the few better school committee members! However, I have not seen him treated with ‘dignity and respect’ when he makes a significant comment. The majority of the sc are rude and not very logical.

  7. Tinker, do you know for sure, without a doubt, that Jen Ricci is somehow related to Barry Ricci? And what’s with the “last I heard” crap? There’s enough problems with Chariho already without trying to add suppositions and speculation. Let’s work to fix the problems that ARE problems and stop chasing what might be ghosts.

    • Tinker just agree with him and maybe he’ll thump his chest so hard in pride he’ll knock himself out. Then we can all be spared another chapter of that book he learned from….you know the one…”Blogging for Idiots”.

      • Oh, I’ve got my thoughts but you wouldn’t be able to handle them. Too above any of your abilities to comprehend since it’ not always totally against Chariho. Wasn’t you that said at one, there’s three sides to every story? Well, I sure don’t believe you story to be 100% right on and totally factual just like I don’t believe Chariho’s story is 100% right on and totally factual. You have some involvement with politics and politicians, I don’t trust anyone involved with that stuff to be totally honest about anything.

  10. Question everything to do with Chariho, right or wrong, but God forbid you dare ever question a poster who comes up with something that might be negative towards Chariho. (Keyword being might)
